The red-hot Irish band Goitse will be appearing at the Rialto Theatre on Lancaster’s Main Street for an evening of traditional Irish music.
Named after an informal Gaelic Irish greeting meaning “come here,” Goitse (pronounced “Go-wit-cha”) is one of the most in-demand young groups to come out of the Emerald Isle today. The popular and multi-award-winning quintet Goitse was forged in the vastly creative crucible of Limerick’s Irish World Academy and was recently named Live Ireland’s “Traditional Group of the Year.”
Goitse has released four critically acclaimed recordings and maintains a year round touring schedule that includes performances throughout Ireland and the UK, Germany, France and the United States. The group’s distinctive sound lies in the quality of their own compositions interspersed with traditional tunes from the countryside of Ireland and abroad, which make each performance unique. Laying the foundations for the music are World and All-Ireland Bodhrán champion Colm Phelan and Conal O’Kane, who is fast making a name for himself as one of the finest guitarists of his generation. The gripping rhythm section sets a powerful drive for the music, while the sweet, charismatic voice of Áine McGeeney draws audiences into a song the way few performers can. Together, the quintet Goitse makes what Irish Music Magazine calls “Music that’s brimming with energy and creative zeal.”

Big Moose Bach Fest VIII Turns to Jazz and Themes of Good and Evil
Labor Day Weekend is once again the occasion for Bach, this year jazzing it up on Saturday, September 2, at 4 pm, with a video presentation “Jazz up the Sinfonias” followed by a movie on the life of Bach.
The final concert will take place on Sunday afternoon, September 3, also at 4 pm. Both events take place at the Medallion Opera House in Gorham, a co-sponsor of the festival. An unusual feature of the annual Bach Fest is that the events are free, with donations to Music in the Great North Woods, which closes out its summer offerings with this signature event. The Sunday program will include three cantatas on life and death, good and evil, with a chorus, soloists and orchestra of Baroque strings and recorders under the direction of Dr. Susan Ferré.

Norman Coulombe, Don Coulombe, John Cucci and Tim Dion will present a performance featuring the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) were a folk rock super group made up of American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills and English American singer-songwriter Graham Nash. They became Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY) when joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, who was an occasional fourth member.
They were noted for their intricate vocal harmonies, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, political activism and lasting influence on US music and culture.

Beatles For Sale is an award-winning, New England-based Beatles tribute band that is committed to recreating the sounds of the Beatles live in concert. They have been entertaining audiences since 2007 with a repertoire that consists of over 150 SONGS from the Beatles catalog.
The band’s members were drawn together by their love of Beatles music and the desire to keep the music alive. They are enthusiastic about bringing it to a whole new generation of Beatles fans. Expect to hear some of your favorites, but don’t expect to see Beatles wigs or Sgt. Pepper suits. They feel that the most important thing about the show is the music. What you will see is a fun and energetic performance complete with original instrumentation and vocal harmonies that are as accurate as possible to the original Beatles recordings. There are no “sampling” or “midi tricks” – everything you hear is performed completely live.
The dynamic father-son team of Ken and Brad Kolodner weave together a captivating soundscape on hammered dulcimer, banjo and fiddle, pushing the boundaries of the old-time tradition into uncharted territory.
Regarded as one of the most influential hammered dulcimer players in North America, Baltimore’s Ken Kolodner has joined forces with his son Brad Kolodner, a rising star in the claw-hammer banjo world. Together, they infuse their own brand of driving, innovative, tasteful and unique interpretations of traditional and original fiddle tunes and songs.
Rounding out the trio is multi-instrumentalist Alex Lacquement. Together, they perform tight musical arrangements of original and traditional old-time music with a “creative curiosity that lets all listeners know that a passion for traditional music yet thrives in every generation.”

Organist Katelyn Emerson, praised for her “great sensitivity” and “exciting artistry” (The American Organist), showcases repertoire from the 14th-21st centuries in performances throughout the United States and Europe. She has performed in numerous esteemed venues, notably including the Hallgrímskirkja (Iceland), Cathédrale Saint-Omer (France), Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Hall (Russia), Cathédrale St-Quentin (Hasselt, Belgium), the Hauptkirche St. Petri (Hamburg, Germany), on the Kotzschmar Memorial Organ of Merrill Auditorium (Portland, ME, U.S.A.), Severance Hall (Cleveland, OH, U.S.A.), Reith Recital Hall at Goshen College (IN, U.S.A.), and others.
As a recipient of the prestigious J. William Fulbright Study/Research Grant, Katelyn studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Toulouse, France for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Katelyn frequently presents masterclasses on organ interpretation and church music for AGO-sponsored events. She has been on the faculty of several AGO Pipe Organ Encounters and at the Oberlin Summer Organ Academy (OH).
Katelyn is Associate Organist & Choirmaster at the Church of the Advent (Boston, MA), where she works with the historic Aeolian-Skinner organ, the professional Choir of the Church of the Advent, and the volunteer Parish Choir.

Ben Cosgrove is a traveling composer-performer whose “electrifying and exhilarating” instrumental music is inspired by places and landscapes around North America. In 2015-16, Ben served as the Artist-In-Residence for the White Mountain National Forest, and he has also held residencies and fellowships at other national parks and arts centers. His performances have been described as “stunning” (RedLine Roots) and as “compelling and beautiful” (The Harvard Crimson).
