AMC Presents: The History & Science of Hurricanes

April 29, 2017 @ 8:00 pm

Hurricanes have had a profound influence on the history of regions as diverse as the Caribbean and Japan. In this talk, Professor Kerry Emanuel of the Lorenz Center, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will describe how hurricanes have altered the course of history and the effects they have had on nature and on human society, leading into a discussion of just what they are, how they develop and thrive in the tropics, and how we go about forecasting them today. The effect of climate change in these fascinating storms will be the final topic of the evening. The program is presented in cooperation with the American Meteorological Society.

Pinkham Notch evening programs are free and open to the public. Call to find out more or to be added to the monthly email list: (603) 466-2721 or outdoors.org/pinkhamhappenings.
