Acoustic Americana Concert Featuring Bennett & Perkins and Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s

What do you get when you combine harmonies, guitars, kazoo, banjo, a washboard, and a winter evening in New England? It’s a night of folk and blues music to remember, as dynamic folk duos Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s and Bennett & Perkins take the stage on Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. at the Medallion Opera House, Gorham. Tickets are $12 and are available online at www.medallionoperahouse.org and at the Gorham Town Hall.

The special double bill will begin with the ragtime hokum of Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s. They are a musical duo based in New England, playing American Roots, Jazz, Blues, Country, and Ragtime music from the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s, as well as classic original tunes. They have an authentic acoustic sound and heartfelt dedication to the great music of America’s past. Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s have been featured on WMWV, WMPG Portland, WNHN Concord radio stations, and have played at venues of note such as the Cold River Radio Show, The Press Room, and Jerry Jam Festival.

Bennett and Perkins perform songs with stories and music inspired by everyday lives, about lost loves, lost lives and real life adventure, coupled with haunting harmonies and memorable arrangement of vocals and guitar. Their music is a regular feature on New Hampshire Public Radio Folk Show and Maine’s folk radio standard WERU. They have performed on the stages of The Cold River Radio Show, Ossipee Valley Music Festival, The Flying Monkey Performance Center, Cambridge’s famed Passim’s, and Stone Mountain Arts Center.
