North Country Moose Festival

Celebrate all things Moose at the 27th North Country Moose Festival, an annual tradition since 1991! Held  the weekend before Labor Day, this year’s festivities on August 24 & 25 include a moose calling contest, live music, artisan & craft vendors, as well as family favorites like horse & wagon rides, a dog show, and maple syrup tasting contest – not to mention the classic car show!

This event is the North Country Chamber of Commerce’s premier fundraising event, drawing thousands each year. It provides a venue for residents, second homeowners and tourists alike to enjoy old-time family fun as well as showcase the many diverse talents and services that are located right here in the North Country.

Voted #1 Festival in NH in 2015.

2017 Moose Festival

The 2017 Moose Festival celebrates northern New Hampshire and Vermont’s largest creature with a family-centered country fair held in Canaan, Vermont, just across the Connecticut River from Colebrook, NH.

A jam-packed schedule of entertainment — Moose Calling Contest, Moose Chili, Classic Car Show, ATV Ride-In, craft fair with more than 75 artisans, horse-drawn wagon rides, dog show, maple tasting, old-fashioned barn dance, and many wonderful family activities — guarantee fun for everyone. And, who knows? You might even see a moose or two moseying along the side of the road.

AMC Presents: Wildlife of the White Mountains

Naturalist Dave Govatski will lead this program that will look at several charismatic mammals of the White Mountain region, including American marten, fisher, snowshoe hare, beaver, black bear and moose. We will discuss what these animals eat, how they survive our long winters and places where you might see them. We will also look at several bird species found in the mountains, including spruce grouse, gray jays, boreal chickadees, and black-backed woodpeckers.
