Snowflake Festival

Head to Colebrook on Saturday, December 9, and join in all the fun at the town’s Snowflake Festival.

Thousands of twinkling lights set the stage for the magical Christmas season at Santa’s Village. Youngsters can whisper their Christmas lists to Santa, feed his reindeer, visit the elves and enjoy 18 Christmas-themed rides in the frosty air.

Christmastime hours: November 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, and 27, and December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, and 17. The park opens every day at 11 a.m. Be sure to dress warmly.

Littleton Opera House Presents Nutcracker Ballet

The holiday classic, “Clara’s Nutcracker, a Children’s Ballet,” will be performed by the Creative Edge Dancers  on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 8, 9 and 10 at 6 p.m. and in a matinee at 2 p.m. on December 10, all at the historic Littleton Opera House. Tickets cost $10 for adults, and $8 for seniors and kids 5-11, and are available at Lahout’s, the Opera House and at the door.

St. Kieran’s Presents: The Turning of the Year — A Holiday Celebration!

Seven times  All-Ireland accordion champion John Whelan teams up with American Roots band Low Lily and Scottish-style fiddler Katie McNally for a spectacular holiday mini-fest at St. Kieran’s! Featuring traditional and original music from Ireland, Scotland, and America, this diverse and energetic show will help usher in the holiday season with a bang. This exclusive show brings the generations together for a fresh new take on roots music from both sides of the pond.

The show is much more than a triple bill— the artists perform separately, all together, and everything-in-between. From the sweet sound of the accordion with lush guitar textures behind it, to a blast of reels with everyone playing together, to an American song sung in three-part harmony, this show is dynamic and full of life. If you enjoy Irish and Scottish music, modern American string band music and harmonious vocals, you will love the Turning of the Year!

Irish Christmas in America at the Rialto

The Great North Woods Committee for the Arts will present a wonderful holiday concert, “Irish Christmas in America,” at the Rialto Theatre in Lancaster.

Produced by Sligo fiddler Oisín Mac Diarmada, the hugely popular “Irish Christmas in America” show features top Irish music, song and dance in an engaging performance rich in humour and boundless energy. The 2017 tour features special guest singer Niamh Farrell, a Sligo vocalist who has toured with UK singer/songwriting star David Gray. Niamh teams up with legendary West Kerry singer Séamus Begley, famous for his charming wit and stunning voice.

This family-friendly performance features Irish ballads, lively instrumental tunes and thrilling Irish dancing, while evocative photographic images provide a backdrop to some of Ireland’s rich historical traditions. Take a memorable glimpse into the enchanting spirit of Christmas, as the finest traditional artists from Ireland bring you on a fun-filled start to the holiday season of 2017.

Old Tyme Christmas

Lancaster our Annual Old Tyme Christmas is great family fun, featuring music and local shopping. Stores on Main Street will be open offering free treats and specials in each individual store. Town Hall and Col. Town Rec Center will be filled with local artisans and their wares. Of course Santa will be there. At the Great North Woods Welcome Center one can come and decorate a giant gingerbread man or ride a horse drawn wagon.

Lancaster’s downtown will sparkle and shine with festive decorations on Thursday, November 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. during Olde Tyme Christmas, a night to stroll the streets and get into the spirit of the season.
