Homecoming Weekend at Bretton Woods Ski Area

Homecoming Weekend kicks off the 45th season of skiing and riding at the Bretton Woods Ski Area. On Friday, November 23, Warren Miller’s action-packed feature film, “Face of Winter,” will be screened.

On Saturday, the party continues with a “Welcome Back” Homecoming BBQ, followed by the Homecoming Brew tasting of beers from several Northern New England breweries. More information and tickets are available at www.brettonwoods.com/homecoming.

Holiday Family Festival at The Cog

During November 23-25 and December 1-2 we will have some special guests on the train with us! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be welcoming Waumbek Wonderland passengers and kids will be getting a special gift. There will be all kinds of Holiday fun and games back at the Marshfield Base Station after the trip, along with complimentary hot drinks and cookies in the great room.

Trains depart 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Family activities are from 10:30 -2:00 p.m.  Visit us online to book the train ride, advance booking is recommended, seating is limited availability.

Thanksgiving Dinner at AMC Highland Center

Celebrate Thanksgiving with family or friends at the AMC Highland Center and enjoy a festive traditional dinner with all the trimmings — and without the cleanup!

The menu includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options in addition to the usual holiday offerings.

Begin with Winter Squash Bisque (GF, Vegan) or Potato & Leek Chowder (GF, Vegetarian); Field Greens with Fresh Cranberries, Goat Cheese & Candied Walnuts (GF, Vegan); and House-baked Bread & Assorted Dinner Rolls.

Entrees include Roasted Turkey with Classic Corn Bread Stuffing, Gravy and Rustic Cranberry Sauce; or Roasted Pork Loin with Caramelized Onions & Savory Roasted Apple Sauce.

Sip & Paint (The Notch) at AMC Highland Center

No Experience Required! Fun for the absolute beginner to the seasoned artist.

Spend an afternoon of creativity with guided instruction, a break for savory snacks, and ending with a four-course, family-style dinner at 6 p.m.

Instructor Melanie Levitt from Jackson Art will guide you step by step. Dinner, snacks and all painting supplies included for $95 (AMC members $90). Wine and local craft beer available for purchase. We will provide you with a smock, but please wear clothes you wouldn’t mind getting paint on.

Beginner Plein Air Workshop at AMC Highland Center

In this one-day outdoor painting workshop, students will enjoy the process of setting up an easel outdoors and painting the beautiful White Mountain landscape “En Plein Air.”

Through demonstration and individual attention in oils, students will learn how to distill the important information from their observation and translate it onto the canvas. Melanie Levitt from Jackson Art will address the importance of sketching, how to create depth in a painting composition, color mixing formulas, light effects, and other tips for painting outdoors. All this will be taught in an understandable step-by-step process which will lead students to improve their ability to see the landscape and create a finished painting in a short time. This class is suitable for the total beginner or the intermediate student who wants to learn how to paint outdoors. Students will complete at least one painting a day. No need to invest in expensive equipment. We will provide all the supplies you need to paint for the day (ie: use of plein air easel, paints, brushes, canvas, palette, turpentine, etc. (If weather is not suitable for outdoor painting, we will paint from photographs in the Lodge.)

“Fell into October” Autumn Festival at Bretton Woods

The Bretton Woods Adventure Center at the Omni Mount Washington Resort invites you to the 2nd Annual Fell Into October! Autumn Festival. Taking place on Saturday, September 29th this celebration of all things New England really will have you “falling” in love with autumn in the mountains!

This event includes the 7th Annual Fell Race at Bretton Woods, a race featuring a combination of mountain racing and orienteering that takes racers through off-road terrain with challenging elevation changes and will be sure to be a blast for spectators of all ages! Enjoy our 2nd Annual Bretton Woods Mountain Bike Fondo.
