Mt. Washington Cog Railway Steampunk Event

August 20, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Experience Victorian Era meets the Wild West meets Jules Verne at The Cog.

The Steampunk movement and The Cog have several elements in common: the possibilities of steam power as a dominant source of energy; the romanticism of the by-gone Victorian/Wild West era; and the idea that machines can be not just functional, but aesthetically pleasing and handcrafted. You don’t have to be a Steampunk aficionado to enjoy this type of event, as the dress, performances, and exhibits are truly fascinating to see and experience. Best of all, The Cog has a built in fantasy element needed for a successful Steampunk event: “Railway to the Moon”!

The Cog Steampunk event will include LARP (Live Action Role Playing) with costumed characters including Inventor Sylvester Marsh; his wife Cornelia Marsh; Coggers; and the NH State Legislator, who will move the storyline forward throughout the day, engaging with each other, fellow Steampunk participants, and the general public. To round out the event, participants and visitors may also: view The Cog Museum; browse Steampunk vendors, art exhibits, watch a blacksmith or perhaps a glass blower; experience live music, or have high tea with Mrs. Marsh. In addition, there could be a dedicated Steampunk train that ascends to the moon on top of Mt. Washington.
