Feathers in Fall: Birding with David Govatski

October 1, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Grab your binoculars and experience the wonders of the fall migration while taking in breathtaking foliage with naturalist and birder David Govatski and The Nature Conservancy! We’ll spend the morning looking to the skies and trees at Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson, which provides key habitat for migrating songbirds, waterfowl and raptors. We’ll have lunch on the shores of Cherry Pond before continuing to Little Cherry Pond and exploring the black spruce forest. Along the way we’ll chat about the natural and cultural history of Pondicherry, a division of the Silvio O. Conte National Fish & Wildlife Refuge. Bring your birding tools of choice: binoculars, camera, spotting scope, field guide, etc., as well as your lunch. Please dress appropriately for the weather with sturdy shoes for hiking on relatively flat trails. Our route will total 5 miles in distance. Registration is required. Please register today at www.nature.org/NHevents. Please be prepared to spend a few hours in the woods on uneven terrain that is light to moderately strenuous and may include some uphill movement. Wear sturdy shoes and long pants and sleeves to protect from the ticks and bugs. This trip is appropriate for ages 10 and up.
