One of the rich legacies of the paper industry in New Hampshire Grand is the hundreds of miles of logging roads that were created throughout the region to bring the timber out of the heart of deep woods and down to the mills.
Combine that with the generosity of land owners and what's been created in Coös County is a growing network of ATV trails.
In Stratford, North Country ATV offers more than 120 miles of trails that crisscross about 30,000 acres, the longest lineal ATV trail system in all of New England, taking riders through wide sweeps of undeveloped land that take in mountains, bogs, pastures and panoramas of New Hampshire Grand.
Jericho Mountain State Park is New Hampshire's newest state park, open to ATV and dirtbike enthusiasts. About 50 miles of trails are open, which begin at the serene Jericho Lake and go right up nearly to the top of 2,454-foot Jericho Mountain, offering amazing views of the Mahoosuc Range and the Androscoggin Valley.
More miles of trails are being cleared and when Jericho Mountain State Park is fully developed, it will feature a campground and other amenities.
